If you have used a transvaginal mesh implant and have suffered any complications or discomfort as a result, then you may be entitled to compensation.
Transvaginal mesh implants are designed to provide support for the pelvic organs in treatment of pelvic organ prolapse or stress urinary incontinence. In other words, it is intended to help prevent the sagging of organs owing to the weakening of muscles following childbirth, hysterectomy or menopause.
However, many of these devices have been poorly made and tested, resulting in countless cases of women suffering from numerous unpleasant side effects, permanent erosion damage, scarring and even dangerous infections.
CollaMend is one such product from the company Bard Medical. If you have been injured, then you have a right to compensation and that’s why we are here to help.
What is CollaMend
CollaMend is one of the many transvaginal implant products from C.R. Bard. This particular product is made from an acellular porcine dermal matrix, that is cross-linked to provide extra strength and is fenestrated to enable tissue growth.
Unlike many of the other C.R. Bard mesh products, CollaMend has not yet been implicated in cases of scarring, tissue damage or infection. Among those products are:
- Pelvisoft BioMesh
- Pelvicol Acellular
- Collagen Matrix
The Avaulta line of products have come under particular fire with many high profile cases being won against Bard related to these specific models. Bard has already been ordered to pay out millions in compensation to multiple victims while there are still more than 12,000 open Bard cases filed.
Symptoms and Side Effects
So what might you expect as someone experiencing side effects caused by a vaginal mesh? The problem occurs when the transvaginal implant begins to degrade and erode over time. This then ultimately results in it becoming rough and sharp on the edges and in turn that makes it damaging to both the inside walls of the vagina and the organs that it is supposed to support.
This can then cause a number of serious implications for women who use the products, including:
- Permanent pain
- Irreversible scarring
- Pain during intercourse
In some rare cases with different implant devices, infection has even led to emergency surgery and in one instance death.
If you should experience any discomfort or damage caused by a vaginal mesh implant, then you are entitled to compensation. When you use a medical product such as CollaMend, you do so in good faith. If doing so has resulted in permanent injury, in financial strain or in psychological trauma, then it is important to file your case. We are highly experienced in this area and are available to help you do just that. Get in touch promptly for a free case evaluation as time is limited to file your claim.
